Week 3

Don't worry guys we made it to church this week.

This week was pretty good. Of course, it was really hot. I can't believe I'm saying this but anything under 110 degrees is not too bad. We had a good week.

Do you know what's worse than riding in 113 degrees? Riding in 113 degrees weather with the wind because it drys up your sweat and makes it more hot.

We taught a guy named Marco. He is a 17-year-old guy who wanted to learn about Jesus Christ. I thought to myself that we have the perfect message for you. We taught him the restoration and he seems really interested. We gave him a book of Mormon and hopefully, he has been reading and praying about it.

We had exchanges and I went with Elder Webber. He is our district leader. He is a really cool dude. We had a good time. He planned 6 lessons but, we ended up with one. Missionary work in a nutshell.

Love you guys.

Week 2

This week me and my companion attempted to go to church.

We didn't make it. This was the first time they had it since it was closed. Church was at 9 and we set off at 8:15 on a 6-mile bike ride through the desert. A couple minutes in my suit coat sleeve got caught in the break and we couldn't get it out but luckily some biker bros came by with tools and helped us get it out. There was three of them so I'm pretty sure they were the three Nephites. We kept going down the road trying to make it to church but, 2.5 miles in my companion ran over a bolt popping his back tire. By this point we were still pretty far away from church so we walked back home in over 90-degree weather.

One thing I am really greatful for are cars. Now that I have walked over 2 miles in hot weather I am really greatful for bikes too. Crazy how humble the mission makes you.

On Thursday my companion and I rode 13 miles in 107 degrees heat. We went to teach a lady named Yolanda about the restoration. She was pretty interested in the plan of salvation but, we can't get back in contact with her yet. On the way back I felt like I was about to pass out so I poured water on my mask to cool me off. I have sweated so much this week I could fill a bathtub with all my sweat.

We have ridden a total of of 31 miles in more than a 107 degrees weather. At least I can feel my legs getting stronger so when I get back I could probably compete in the Olympics for cycling.

The meat we got this week was brisket from the same guy who smoked us the pulled pork. It was really really really good. So I ate a bunch of that. Even though this week was really hard the brisket made it worth it.

Hope you all are doing well and have a good week. Love y'all.

Week 1

This is my first week in the actual mission field. It was pretty good I would say. Right when I got off the plane and walked into the airport there was a Casino right there. I then said to some of the missionaries I was walking with "This ain't Utah anymore"

The area I'm in is in Northern Las Vegas. I'm currently serving in Laural Canyon Ward. Most of my missionary work has been trying to call people over the phone. Most of the time the calls are like this. " Hi we are missionaries for the church of Jesus Christ. How are you doing?" And they say "Wrong Number" and hang up.

We have been giving member lessons mostly. We live about 3 or 4 miles from our area so we ride our bikes at least a few miles to get to anybody's house. This would be fine normally but, there is a problem. The problem is that it's over a 100 degrees. Good thing I have Grandpa Brown in my pocket to help me bike.

We went to our bishops house to get to know him and one of the ward clerks likes to smoke stuff and he brought a bunch of pulled pork and it was really good. He gave us the leftovers so me and the other 3 Elders in the apartment had a lot of bueno pulled pork.

My companion is named Elder Paulsen and he is from Riverton Utah. The other two Elders are Elder Wade and Jonhson. They are all good people.

Hope you all are doing well and love you all.

Ps: I have been working on my wheel chair skills because their are 2 wheel chairs in my apartment.
