WEEK 56 SOLO MISSIONARY

Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. That's right! I cover all the times of the day. It was a really good week this week. I had a good time at least! I hope that Elder Russell can deal with my crap lol.

Elder Russell was under the weather this week and was knocked out all of Thursday. I could of taken a "day off" but, the Lord's work must move forward so while Elder Russell was sleeping I was doing a lot of missionary work over the phone. I became a solo missionary! Let me tell you that it's pretty weird. I must of made 50 plus calls to non-members. I even did a zoom lesson by myself with some members! It was really weird because I kept saying we even though I was the only one there. It was really funny though.

Let's talk about my boy Ivan. He's a 14 year old kid that we are teaching. He's really cool kid with a genuine heart. Yesterday he brought his sister and aunt to church yesterday. He's a better missionary than we are! His aunt is 15 years old which is interesting because Ivan is 14. Ivan is super cool though. I love that dude.

We met these members named the Birds. They are both like 5 ft tall and hilarious. Sister Bird always wants to punch people. She's hilarious. She's a short little old woman who could probably beat me up. Brother Bird is super cool also! They have southern vibes. They are awesome.

I had a good week this week. I hope you all are doing well.

WEEK 55 BACK TO THE HOMELANDS AND KARMA IS A JERK

Hello everybody that can hear my typing and read my lips! I'm not sure why I started out with this but, it's something my brain conjured up. Sadly I did get transferred but, there is no place I rather be transferred to then the homelands of North Las Vegas! That's right I'm back in the hood! The land of drugs, the land of biking, the land of promise, the land of abandoned walmarts because they were too dangerous! I'm in the Gateway ward which is one of the most desired English areas in the whole mission because it's filled with humble people and work to be done! We even have 3 companionships in the ward there is so much work to do.

There are a lot of Spanish speakers too that we "talk" to. The reason I put parenthesis around talk is because we try to talk to them but, my new companion Elder Russell and I are called Spanish but, never been in any Spanish areas so it's like a dog and a cat trying to communicate with each other so it doesn't really work. There was this one Cuban lady and we couldn't understand her at all. It was crazy we kind of felt stupid after. It was funny though!

Now time to talk about karma. I was talking with my new comp Elder Russell and I told him I never have been sick on the mission before and the next day I was sick with a cold. Karma is basically the biggest jerk ever. We still did missionary work but, I sound pretty stupid with a mask on and my stuffy nose.

I have basically had a car my whole mission but, now I'm back to biking every day to get places and it's been really fun. It would be more fun if I wasn't sick. It's funny to see all the homeless dudes cruising around on their bikes. There are so many people in the teaching pool. My companion and I are both new to the area so we been calling and setting up lessons with all these people who we have no idea about. There is probably about 30 plus people that were being taught by the missionaries pretty recently. It's crazy. We talk to a lot of drunk people on the streets and it's really fun. We talked to this one person about Adam and Eve and he said that Adam and Eve weren't the first people on the earth and that there were aliens first and how it was scientifically proven. I was thinking about being straight up with him and saying that's just completely wrong and that there is no scientific evidence. I constrained though. The things people believe these days.

I'm loving it up here in the North! It's the place to be and it borders my first area which is lit! My companion is dope and is half Native American so we don't just look like 2 white boys walking around. Anyways love you all a lot and don't believe everything you read on the internet and ask God instead! Love you bye!

WEEK 53 ELDER DENNIS

It has been a good last couple of weeks. It's been pretty fun over here in Vegas. There's this one kid in our YSA who is from Vietnam and has down syndrome and his name is Dennis and we took him to do missionary work and it was hilarious!

We were cruising around in a Mazda mini van with another member named Derek. Dennis, Derek, Elder Whittaker and I went to go knock some doors. While we were in the in the van, Dennis played "Believe" like 20 times from the Polar Express. I swear Christmas get earlier and earlier every year. It was funny. We knocked the first door and a guy answered and we asked for Kenneth and he went to get Kenneth and when he was closing the door Dennis said "Smells like weed." It was hilarious. We were dying on the porch. We were driving in the van in an apartment complex and this lady walked by and Dennis looked out the window and said "oooohhh, nice!" It was so funny! In a different complex we were driving and there was another lady who was YSA age and we told Dennis to talk to her and he opened the door to the van while we were driving by and she looked at us so confused. It was hilarious. It was a fun day for sure!

We also put two kids on date for baptism! Their names are Anthony and Christan! Anthony is 11 and Christan is 10 and they are super cool kids. The Mom is a member and the 21 year old daughter is a member. We have been trying to get into their house since I've been here and we finally got the foot in the door. We are excited for them!

It's been a good time in the heat. Lots of sweat but, this is good. I have to look good after the mission some how and if it means sweating off a few pounds so be it. Love you all and I hope the best for you all!
